Valley bottom loop

There are two parallel paths along the bottom of Val di Mello: they run on the right and left-hand side of Torrente Mello. Many little lakes and water holes are found along the path. The main and most popular track runs along the left side of the valley and it is most likely the one you took to reach Luna Nascente mountain hut from the car park. If you would like to discover the beauty of the valley floor, we suggest this loop which connect the two paths from the car park to Rasica hut. You may decide to split the walk into two smaller loops; two bridges are visible from the path, one before and one after our hut, which allow you to cross the creek. You can walk the loop clockwise (from the hut towards the valley floor until the car park and back to the hut) or anti-clockwise as described below. Follow the main path to the car park and past the shuttle bus stop shelter. Along the dirt road take the path through the grass on your left; this takes you to a bridge. Across the creek, continue following the track through the meadow; bypass a second bridge that would take you back to the car park. The track goes on through clearings, woods and streams along the Mello creek. Keep walking past the little lake until you reach Cà di Carna where you will find another bridge. Do not cross it but keep walking along the meadows and the stone walls. After crossing a stream, continue along the creek and you will spot our hut on the other side of the valley. You will arrive at a bridge: you can cross it to go back to the hut or you can keep walking to finish the loop. If you continue, you will go through woods and cross several streams: this section is very beautiful and scenic. You will soon arrive to Rasica meadows. Here you will be able to cross the creek and join the main path that goes slightly downhill and will quickly take you back to Luna Nascente mountain hut.
